Around two decades ago, we crafted a handrail for The Crazy Bear Hotel in Beaconsfield that still stands as a testament to bold design. This piece was wrapped entirely in our leather, bringing a rich and tactile surface to what could have been just another functional element. The handrail isn’t merely practical, it’s a striking addition to the hotel’s signature eccentric style.
What sets it apart is the detailed metalwork that we incorporated. Wrought iron provides the structure, while delicate brass leaves wind their way along the rail, creating a sense of movement and artistry. The mix of materials warm, aged brass and robust iron alongside the leather cladding, results in a design that feels both strong and intricate. It’s a handrail with presence, transforming a simple stairway into something far more engaging.
Installed as part of the hotel’s dramatic interiors, this piece still draws attention today, not only because of the quality of the craftsmanship but also the way it fits within the Crazy Bear’s overall aesthetic bold, unexpected, and full of character. It’s an example of how practical elements can become central to a design, elevating the entire space around it.
